December 21, 2014 REPORT:
MEETING OUR SPACE NEEDS
SPACE PLANNING CHARRETTE AND NEXT STEPS WEEKEND
It is increasingly clear that we need more space to better serve our congregation and fulfill our mission. But what do we need? What are our options? What can we afford? And how do we proceed? In November and December we took two giant steps to help answer these questions.
The Space Planning Charrette, held in mid-November, was a big success. Over fifty people offered exciting ideas on how we might solve our need for more space. With the guidance of church architect Stephan McCullar, we solicited input in several key areas: Sanctuary, Social Hall and Kitchen, RE and Offices, Grounds, Arts and Music, and Audio/Visual/Technology. We also began preliminary discussions on Finances.
In the weeks ahead, we will need to sort through the rich array of ideas to identify our priorities, to determine what we can afford, and to explore our options for turning our dreams into reality. The unedited suggestions and comments can be found at:

And we’ve just gotten the report from the Next Steps Weekend held in mid-December. With the assistance of Bill Clontz, a UUA Stewardship Consultant, we had in-depth discussions on how to further strengthen our already thriving congregation, including how to explore our options for more space and study how we can finance such a venture.
